Regan House was purchased by Wayne and Judith Gilmer in late 2014, following their time owning and operating Hathaway House in Stratford as a Bed & Breakfast and garden and wedding venue.
Drawn back to hospitality, they saw the potential in Regan House — a beautiful 1910 villa surrounded by established gardens, with a history of welcoming guests.
Regan House is a beautifully restored 1910 villa with a character and charm that reflects its history, while offering the comfort and conveniences of a modern stay.
Before Wayne and Judith made Regan House their own, the property had already welcomed guests as a Bed & Breakfast known as Pretty Croft. Previous owners were also passionate gardeners, establishing much of the landscape that surrounds the house today.
Since purchasing the property in 2014, Wayne and Judith have continued to lovingly develop and care for both the house and its surroundings. The interior has been redecorated with a modern yet era-appropriate style, carefully balancing contemporary comfort with the character and details of the original villa.
Today, Regan House offers a peaceful and welcoming place to stay — somewhere you can enjoy the charm of a historic home, relax among beautiful gardens and feel very much at home while exploring Stratford and the wider Taranaki region.
Regan House is more than a place to stay — it’s a home that Wayne and Judith are proud to share with their guests.
Having previously owned and operated Hathaway House in Stratford, Wayne and Judith returned to the hospitality industry when they purchased Regan House in 2014.
Their love of historic homes, beautiful gardens and welcoming people is at the heart of Regan House. They enjoy sharing the property with guests from around the world and helping visitors make the most of their time in Stratford and the wider Taranaki region.
